About Me:

Hello! My name is Jennifer Wang, I go by Jennifer, Jenny, or Jen. I was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan US and was raised in Taiwan for the first decade of my life. I was very fortunate to be brought up into a wanderlust family. At a young age, my parents would take us out to restaurants and to travel abroad to experience different cuisines and culture. The best part was if my brother and I like the dish, my mom would come home and make it (many times even better). My mother is a phenomenal chef and I was a phenomenal eater.

Growing up I would sit by the kitchen and watch her cook, and I guess from observing I picked up a thing or two. Since flying out of the nest, I was deprived of delicious food being away from home so I decided to start learning how to cook. Through being away from home, I learned to create a community of my own and fell in love with hosting others. Through this blog I hope to share my favorite travel places, places to eat, and create a community through this platform.

Where does the word ‘Mudita’ come from?

There are four elements of true love in the Buddhist teaching: maitri, karuna, mudita, and upeksha. Maitri means loving-kindness and to bring joy to a beloved person. Second element of love is compassion, karuna, meaning the ability to ease the pain of another person. The third element of true love is joy, mudita, and  finding joy in the happiness and success of others. Lastly, upeksha means you bring freedom to the person you love.

This site is to share the joyful memories from my childhood or from those around me
